Feb. 18, 2012, NBYO & Radio Radio at the Moncton Wesleyan Church – I have had the pleasure of serving on the board of directors for the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra for the last couple of years. During my time on the board I filmed my documentary “Sistema Revolution” for CBC, learned a heck of a lot about governance, travelled to Venezuela twice to learn about El Sistema, and have filmed the internationally acclaimed orchestra with such artists as Matt Anderson, Jill Barber and Radio Radio. Last night, the Moncton Wesleyan Church hosted the NBYO/Radio Radio concert and it was stellar. I took this photo through the screen of our jib-arm camera screen. Every time I see this orchestra play they make my jaw drop even lower. These musicians are tight. We should all be very proud of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra; they truly are a gem and represent our province to the world in very positive light. In a time when public funding to the arts is scarce, we as a province must support organizations like the NBYO, because they truly are world class. If you are in Saint John in April, mark your calendars for the orchestra’s season finale on Sunday, April 1. Go to www.nbyo-ojnb.ca for more information.
